The priests of Good Shepherd Church, an American Catholic Community, are deeply concerned over the number of people who are leaving the Catholic Church because of marriage discipline. Our priests are here to help you solve problems and make your wedding everything you want it to be.

We want a Catholic wedding but...

There are many circumstances, which prevent couples from celebrating a Catholic marriage ceremony. These might include:

• Divorce-A previous marriage with no church annulment.
• Arrangements for a ceremony in a location other than a parish church.
• A desire for "neutral ground" in the case of interfaith couples.
• The incompatibility of other church regulations with a couple's particular needs.

Solutions Not Problems

Good Shepherd Church, a parish of the Diocese of American Catholic Communities, can offer you solutions since it has more flexible marriage canons and less restrictive wedding guidelines than do Roman Catholic parishes. Good Shepherd provides an alternative for couples who would otherwise be compelled to settle for a ceremony that would not be in accord with their Catholic tradition. Each priest assigned to Good Shepherd has been ordained to the sacramental priesthood considered valid by the Roman Catholic Church and, of course, legal in the State of California.

Celebrate at the location of your choice.

The priests of Good Shepherd Church are permitted to celebrate your wedding at a special location. Some of the possibilities may include:

• a church or wedding chapel
• a garden, home or hotel
• in a park, aboard a boat or overlooking the ocean

Arrangements With Good Shepherd Are Easy

Just call and make an appointment to visit us at our parish office. A member of our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have and, if you desire, take your information. If you reach our voice-mail, please speak slowly and clearly, and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Interfaith Ceremonies

To respond to special interfaith requirements, the priests of Good Shepherd Church will officiate jointly with ministers of other denominations or rabbis.

A Church Location

Many couples desire a church setting for their weddings. Any church or chapel willing to make their facilities available to you and which allows you to bring your own minister, is an ideal place for your Catholic wedding liturgy. Our priests are happy to travel to the church of your choice and officiate at your wedding.

The priests of Good Shepherd Church are committed to making a beautiful wedding in the Catholic tradition possible for you. You are welcome to attend a Sunday Mass with the members of our parish. Your presence at one of our weekend Liturgies will allow you to become better acquainted with your priest and experience him as a celebrant.
