Infant Baptism

The choice to have your children baptized, ranks among the most important decisions you will ever make on their behalf. Good Shepherd Church shares the position of all Catholicism that priests who baptize should be assured by parents and godparents of their resolve to nourish the new life begun in their infant children at baptism. The following procedures are, therefore, part of our policy regarding infant baptism.
  • Parents should print out an Application for Baptism form (provided here), complete it, and fax or mail it to our office. We will then send you baptismal information and give you a call.
  • Parents should also print out copies of our Affidavit for Parents and our Affidavit for Godparents. These should be completed and returned to our office or to the priest at the baptismal ceremony.
  • It is not necessary for parents or godparents to attend pre-baptismal classes. The priest will give a commentary to explain the meaning of the ceremony during the baptism for the benefit of everyone attending.
  • Our Sunday schedule and location for baptism is provided on the Application for Baptism form.
  • Alternative dates for baptism can be arranged with our office. Families who would like to use the chapel at our offices can do so if their group numbers less than forty.

As always, you are cordially invited to contact us directly at (562) 920-2212 to discuss any further questions you may have. If you prefer, we would be happy to mail you a baptismal package containing all of the necessary paperwork to arrange for your child's Baptism.
